DEV'S NOTE

May 23 Developer's Note
GM Chronicles 6hours ago

Hello, this is Summoners War: Chronicles PD Sang-min Choi.

In this Developer's Note, I'll go over the details of the update scheduled for May 29.

Please keep in mind that the update schedule and details may change due to unforeseen circumstances.

[2 New Rune Sets]

2 new Rune Sets that will be effective on support and DPS Monsters will be added.

- Haste Rune: Applies a Skill Acceleration increase effect.

- Scorn Rune: Increases damage dealt to enemies with harmful effects.

These Runes can be obtained from the new Path of Adventure. Additionally, Rune Storage and Preset slots will also be expanded to accommodate the increased number of Rune types.

[Guild Siege Battle Revamp]

New Guild Siege Battle maps, exclusive for 1vs1 battles, will be added to encourage more strategic planning in battles.

Maps will change every 4 weeks during the season, and each map will feature shortcuts that become available after the Mid Game. These shortcuts are intended to serve as strategic elements that can shift the flow of battle.

[Changes to White Night Summon]

The White Night Rate UP Summon system will be revamped, and changes will be made to how White Night Scrolls are used.

Previously, if you already owned the target Monster of the White Night Rate UP Summon, you could acquire a bonus 5★ Light/Dark Monster instead.

This bonus Monster will be replaced with White Night Scroll x120.

Additionally, a feature for selecting a previous White Night Rate UP Summon Monster as the target Monster will be added.

The selected Monster will be guaranteed when max summon mileage is reached, and the accumulated mileage will be carried over even if you change the target Monster.

Also, taking into consideration the new Monster releases and the White Night Rate UP Summon banner cycles, only one Rate UP Summon banner will be held at a time starting in 2026.

[Summoner/Monster/Constellation Balance Adjustments]

The following Summoners, Monsters, and Constellations will have balance adjustments applied:

- Summoner

  · Orbia

  · Soleta

  · Jin

- Monster

  · Water Mermaid

  · Wind Mermaid

  · Dark Paladin, Unicorn

- Constellation

  · Sagittarius (Archer)

  · Scorpius (Assassin)

  · Pisces (Mage)

[Feature/QoL Improvements]

A new Monster Story will be added to Joshua's Bookshelf.

General QoL and feature improvements will be applied to the Constellations system.

The Evangelion Collab Monsters, Rei and Mari, will be added to the list of Monsters that Meta Clone can mimic.

[Upcoming Updates]

In the 1st week of June, the White Night Rate UP Summon for Light Undine and Dark Brownie Magician will be opened.

The Mermaid Exclusive Artifact will be added on Jun. 12, along with a Mermaid Rate UP Summon.

The new 5★ Monster, Onmyouji, will join the world of Chronicles on Jun. 19.

Onmyouji of all attributes will be released simultaneously, and Summoners can learn about Onmyouji's story through a new Monster Story.

A new Challenge Arena (World) season will begin on Jun. 23.

- Map: Rudelin Continent

- Active Buffs

  · DMG Dealt UP for Water Monsters

  · ACC UP for Water Monsters

- Environment Effect: Fog

  · All harmful effects become unremovable

  · Decreases the duration of harmful effects on Summoners and Monsters

[Light Onmyouji Summon Event!]

A special summon event will be held to celebrate Onmyouji's arrival.

An event-exclusive item that can be used to summon Light Onmyouji will be obtainable from weekly limited-time events starting on Jun. 5.

Details on how to participate in the event may vary, but Light Onmyouji can be guaranteed up to 2 times through a special summon event page starting from Jun. 19.

New Summoners will be able to acquire Light Onmyouji immediately through a check-in event.

Don't miss out on this opportunity to acquire the new Light Onmyouji through various events.

[Jun. App Update Preview]

With the app update scheduled for the last week of June, a new Mythic Raid Monster, Lucifer, will be introduced. In line with this update, an overhaul of the overall Raid content and equipment system is also planned.

We are also planning improvements to address an issue identified in the process of acquiring and utilizing Legend Artifacts. Currently, the number of Artifact Cores obtained through dismantling is the same regardless of the Artifact’s grade. This has led to an imbalance between the acquisition difficulty and the dismantling outcome, as 4★ and 5★ Legend Artifacts have different drop rates. In addition, we are reviewing improvements to offer more meaningful ways to utilize duplicate Legend Artifacts, especially when a Summoner has already enhanced one to +15, reducing its usefulness.

[Thank You for Your Feedback on the 1,000-Day Celebration of the KR Launch]

We have thoroughly reviewed all the messages of support and valuable suggestions sent through the 1,000-Day special event celebrating the Korea launch.

We also carefully examined the various opinions delivered through our partner creator, Storyteller.

We sincerely thank all Summoners who shared their heartfelt thoughts, and we extend special thanks to Storyteller for actively conveying the community’s feedback.

While it may be difficult to respond to every single comment, as the Developer PD, I would like to address some of the most frequently raised questions and suggestions related to development, as outlined below.

Q1. The growth system feels too tiring and burdensome.

A1. We are reviewing various ways to alleviate the fatigue experienced during the growth process. This includes improving the efficiency of event and content rewards, and easing the overall growth curve.

Q2. I'm not satisfied with the monetization structure. It needs improvement.

A2. We continuously review the overall product structure, value for money, and access methods to ensure that players feel a sense of fairness and satisfaction when making purchases. Moving forward, we will continue striving to refine the monetization system in a way that does not compromise the player experience.

Q3. The game balance seems unstable. It needs better tuning and quicker responses.

A3. Balance is one of our top priorities to ensure fun and fair gameplay. We continuously monitor balance based on various data, and we have systems in place to respond quickly when irregularities are detected. We will keep listening closely to player feedback and continue working to provide a more stable and enjoyable environment.

Q4. The Rune system is too complex and inconvenient. There's not enough space, and it's hard to know what to do due to a lack of filters and reference materials.

A4. We fully understand that the Rune system, being a core part of progression, presents a certain level of difficulty for new and existing players alike. We recognize the current inconveniences, such as the lack of clear guidance on which Runes suit which Monsters, limited filter options, and insufficient storage.

We are currently reviewing several improvements. As a first step, we are considering a feature that will intuitively display key stats relevant to each Monster. Additionally, the Rune Storage and Rune Preset features will be expanded in the May update, making Rune management more convenient.

Q5. Galagos Ruins, Battlefield, and Total War aren’t fun anymore. There's also a lack of new content, and very few co-op modes to enjoy with friends.

A5. A full rework of Galagos Ruins is planned for the second half of the year. Additionally, cooperative content—which players have consistently requested—is currently in development with a goal to launch in Q3. We are working on both overhauling existing content, like Raid and equipment systems, and introducing new features to offer a richer and more engaging gameplay experience.

Q6. The Arena Pass 2x Point Bonus feature seems to cause imbalance. Please consider removing it.

A6. We understand the concern that the 2x point bonus feature for the Arena Pass may impact balance and competitive structure in certain situations. We are positively reviewing possible solutions, including removal or structural adjustments.

Q7. I wish at least friends could view a Summoner’s information when it’s set to private.

A7. We are aware of the inconvenience regarding the visibility settings of Summoner information and plan to address this in the June update.

Q8. Guild Raids feel repetitive and boring. It would be nice to have boss rotations.

A8. We plan to add a new boss and introduce a rotation system in the second half of the year.

Q9. Please allow Mythic Raids to be played solo.

A9. The solo play feature for Mythic Raids, a highly requested function, is included in the upcoming June Raid rework and is scheduled to be implemented in the second half of the year.

Q10. The content rewards feel lacking, and new Summoners need more support.

A10. We will continue adjusting and improving the efficiency of content rewards. Additionally, to better support new Summoners by lowering entry barriers and aiding progression, a major reward boost is planned for the June Growth Jump rework.

Before we sign off, we would like to thank you for your valuable feedback and support.

We apologize for not being able to address all of the feedback you have provided.

We will continue to do our best to provide an enjoyable Chronicles experience.

Thank you.
