Why would you ever do that, do you ever wonder why there is no new player coming to the game, or why people coming back don't want to stay ?
Well it's partly because of decisions like these that makes people feel like the game is trying to prevent them from catching up so why even bother staying ?
When you come back in the game you inevitably end up farming something later than everyone else.
So when you start farming a gearset in particular and the game dev warn you 10 DAYS BEFORE ONLY that the set in gonna disappear from the shop, you just want to quit the game honestly.
Seriously, why do this ?
It's not broken, It's not hurting anything by staying in the shop. So why do you want to remove it and make it so people currently farming it did it all for nothing ?
